Custom handmade engagement rings in Costa Rica
An engagement ring tells a story: yours. At Jina González Joyería we design every ring to order and handcraft it from the casting stage in our Costa Rican studio. This guide explains how the process works, how long it takes and what to know before you start, whether you live in Costa Rica or are planning a destination wedding here.

How it works
- We talk. Message us on WhatsApp at +506 8829 2894 to book an appointment, online or at our office in Santa Ana, San José. Tell us your story, the style of the person who will wear it, any ideas you have and your budget.
- We design your ring. We prepare a design proposal: shape, gold color and stone. We quote the ring together with the design, because the price depends on your choices. The design fee is ₡20,000 (about US$40) and is deducted from the final price if you go ahead with the ring.
- You approve it. We review the design together and adjust it until it is exactly what you want. We start working once you approve it.
- We make it by hand. We cast the gold, shape the piece, set the stone and polish it in our studio. Every ring is one of a kind.
- We deliver it. Ready for the big moment, in our gift packaging, with a 10-year warranty on material defects.

How long does it take?
How much does a custom engagement ring cost?
It depends on three things:
- The gold: how much gold the design uses, based on its thickness and shape.
- The stone: the size and quality of the diamond, or the natural stone you choose.
- The design: how much handwork the piece requires.
That is why we quote every ring with its design. Tell us your budget in our first conversation and we will design within it.
Gold: the color and karat you prefer
We cast our own gold, so you can choose the color: yellow, white, gray or rose, in different karats. For engagement rings we recommend 18k gold (75% pure gold): it is strong enough for everyday wear and keeps its shine and color.

The stone: what diamond details mean
- Size: we give it in millimeters of diameter. For example, the Into the Wild ring has a 3.7 mm diamond.
- Color: it goes from D (colorless) to Z (yellowish). H–I diamonds look white to the naked eye and offer great value.
- Clarity: it measures the tiny internal marks in the stone. SI means those marks can only be seen with a loupe.

If you prefer something other than a diamond, we also work with natural stones. We can talk about it at your appointment.
How to find the ring size without ruining the surprise
- Borrow a ring they wear on that same finger and bring it to the appointment: we will measure it.
- If you cannot take the ring, trace its inside edge on paper or photograph it next to a ruler.
- Ask a close friend or family member to help you find out.
- If in doubt, tell us: depending on the design, we will explain your options for adjusting the size later.

Wedding bands
We also design wedding bands to order, matching the engagement ring or each with its own style. If you would like a personal detail, such as a fingerprint like in our Huellas collection, tell us and we will include it in the design.

Destination weddings in Costa Rica
If you live abroad, we can do the whole design process online and coordinate delivery with you or your wedding planner in Costa Rica. Contact us as early as possible to plan the timing around your trip.
Warranty and care
All our pieces come with a 10-year warranty on material defects. To keep your ring beautiful for life, take it off for exercise or cleaning, avoid lotions and perfume directly on it, and bring it in for professional cleaning whenever you like.
